Our 85-year-old mother, who still danced with remarkable rhythm and joy, lived at a well-known assisted living and memory care facility run by a national corporation. Our mother died prematurely due to callous and negligent care at a live-in care facility in the north bay area. It was the only facility with an opening at the time we needed to place her and no openings came up during the course of her stay where she could be relocated. The facility was understaffed, overworked and without proper support from management or the owners of the facility thereby creating an unfavorable climate for proper patient care. Our mother suffered numerous injuries while under the care and custody of the facility with no effort by staff to ameliorate the unsafe conditions under which she was living...thereby reducing the danger to her wellbeing...which resulted as medically proven contributing factors to her untimely death. The manner of death listed on her death certificate was other than "natural" due to those injuries.  We contacted the law firm of Stebner, Gertler & Guadagni to assist us due to the horrible conditions our mother endured. They readily took the case which brought us much relief. Our family would like to give special recognition to attorneys Kathryn Stebner, Karman Guadagni (lead counsel) and Kelsey Craven as well as many staff members for their expert attention to detail in the handling of our case. They were approachable, compassionate and very well versed in Elder Abuse law. They negotiated an amazing conclusion to our legal efforts so that we could have closure in the loss of our mother and a feeling of justice for the lack of proper care she suffered. My mom lost her ability to walk (due to a serious head injury) after being neglected at a memory care facility. Karman and Kirsten were so intentional and kind, and they fought very hard to get the facility to own their multiple mistakes. My mom still cannot walk, but the care she receives now is spectacular. I owe Kirsten and Karman so much for taking her case and fighting on her behalf. She will likely live a longer, more comfortable life. Stebner Gertler & Guadagni just won a case on behalf of our mother who passed away after receiving negligent care from a rehabilitation facility. They were able to get us an award which was a good deal more than what we expected. My brothers and I were so fortunate to be referred to Stebner Gertler & Guadagni, a law firm that specializes in Elder Abuse litigation.  Our mom passed away due to negligence committed by a well regarded memory care facility in the Bay Area.  We worked with Karman Guadagni, the managing partner at SG&G.  Karman was very professional, capable, honest and compassionate.  She managed our case with care and attention and she kept us informed as to the progress of our case and the firm's  investigation.  We also want to thank Kathryn Stebner, an experienced, strategic negotiator, and Deena Zacharin, a warm and compassionate fact finder who rounded out our excellent team at SG&G.  There is no winner in a situation such as this, but the most important aspect to our settlement was that Karman took the initiative to request that the owner of the facility write a letter to my family detailing the changes that were made to policies and procedures based on my mom's care and ultimate death.
