Anything that restricts a resident’s movement and cannot be easily removed by the resident is a restraint. This includes tucking sheets too tightly, using “lap buddies” on wheelchairs, or placing a resident in a chair they cannot get out of. Unless there is a specific, time-limited medical order, these are illegal.
