$1,750,000 Settlement – Assisted Living Bedsore and Sepsis Death Case

SGG Law represented the family of an elder against two Assisted Living Facilities in Elk Grove, CA and after vigorous litigation, got the family a $1,750,000 Settlement in this wrongful death case.

What Happened

The elder was initially admitted to the first facility with high risk for skin breakdown but intact skin. The facility went months without turning and repositioning the resident, who was immobile and required assistance with all of his Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

After developing a Stage 3 buttocks wound and multiple UTIs, the resident was transferred to the subsequent Assisted Living Facility, which unlawfully admitted the resident despite requiring a higher level of medical care than what the facility was able to provide.

While at the assisted living facility, the elder developed four additional pressure ulcers and ended up hospitalized due to becoming septic due to these infected wounds. These injuries were a substantial factor in causing his untimely death.
